Ford Driver Assist Technology
Even the best drivers in Pensacola, Crestview, and Fort Walton Beach need a little bit of assistance sometimes—and that’s where Ford driver-assist technology comes into play.
It’s called Ford Co-Pilot360™, an advanced collection of safety systems. It’s specifically designed to make you more confident and give you more peace of mind behind the wheel. If you’re curious about what features you’ll find with Ford driver-assist technology, our team here at World Ford Pensacola has created this guide. Below, you’ll learn about some of the available features and what Ford models you’ll find them on.
Looking Out for You
One of the most advanced features that comes with Ford Co-Pilot360™ is the Blind Spot Information System (BLIS®). Through the use of radar sensors on both rear sides of the vehicle, this system can detect when a vehicle is in your blind spot. It will even alert you with an indicator light in the sideview mirror.
BLIS® also comes with Cross-Traffic Alert, which utilizes the same sensors to detect traffic behind your Ford. When it detects another vehicle, it will give you both an audible and visual warning, which is especially helpful when you’re backing out of a tight parking space.
BLIS® with Cross-Traffic Alert is available on all Ford models except for the Fiesta. Plus, if you’re thinking about getting yourself a powerful Ford pickup, such as the Ranger or F-150, the range of this driver-assist system is extended. With the upgraded system, it’ll even be able to look out for your trailer’s blind spots!
Additional Technologies
The Ford Co-Pilot360™ suite can be equipped with a variety of additional driver-assist features, as well.
The Lane-Keeping System scans lane markings on both sides of your vehicle. If it senses that you’re drifting from your lane, it will alert you with steering wheel vibrations. It may also apply steering torque to direct you back to the center of the lane. This system is available on the Ford Edge, F-150, Fusion, and a variety of other models.
Ford driver-assist technology can also help you avoid a collision with Pre-Collision Assist. This feature can detect a potential collision directly in front of your Ford. It can help reduce the severity of the collision, and it may even help avoid it entirely. When a collision is detected, it will alert you with a sound and a warning message. This feature is available on the Ford Ranger, Mustang, Edge, and a handful of other Ford vehicles.
Helping You Park
In a model armed with Ford driver-assist technology, you’ll also have an easier time parking. A Rear View Camera can be equipped to all Ford models. It provides you with a better view of what’s behind you. That way, you’ll be more confident when you put it in reverse.
The Ford Fusion and the Escape are a couple of the vehicles that can be outfitted with available Enhanced Active Park Assist. This technology can help you parallel park and reverse into a spot. All you need to do is control the accelerator and brake while your car steers you into the parking space.
Ford Co-Pilot360™ will even look out for those of you who are towing a big haul. If you’re towing with a Ford F-150 or Expedition, the available Pro Trailer Backup Assist™ can help you get the trailer into position. You simply need to turn a knob in the direction you want the trailer to go. Then, watch it respond accordingly.
